Last night at the pub my friend used the word "root," but I didn't understand what he meant. He explained that he was using the word in the Australian sense, which implies... shall we say 'immoral procreation' or thereabouts. He then told me about a Canadian clothing company named Roots, which really confuses the Australians when they see the logo printed on jeans and shirts. I found this rather humorous, albeit inappropriately so.
